During the cold war he worked for Dow Chemicals in the production of Polaris Missile and also Bell Helicopter in development of the Huey Helicopter. His hobby of building and flying model airplanes earned him national awards. He was a life long motorcyclist and he and Mary enjoyed riding the hills of Arkansas. Stanley was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Academy of Model Aeronautics, Lions International, The Braille Workers of America and the Gold Wing Motorcycle Organization.
Mr. Haugarth is survived by his wife of 61 years: Mary; a son Mark and wife Reba; a daughter Gail and husband Don Stevenson; his grandchildren: Garrett and wife Lexi Stevenson; Laura and husband Jason Short; Erik Haugarth; Page Stevenson Cates; six great grHe is survived by his wife of 61 years Mary; son Mark and wife Reba; Daughter Gail and husband Don Stevenson; grandchildren, Garrett and wife Lexi Stevenson; Laura and husband Jason Short; Erik Haugarth; Page Stevenson Cates; six great-grandchildren: Brycen, Brady, Sloan, Reed and Hunter; Four sisters; Marcia Haugarth, Sue Fiske, Cami Hardee and Abby Littrell. Stanley was a master machinist and retired from AT&T.
Funeral services was be held at Cedar Vale Cemetery on Saturday October 17, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Charles Gilmore officiat the service.
