Frederick G. "Fred" Rump, 85, of Peoria, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009 at his residence. He was born on July 25, 1924 in Peoria to George H. and Viola Wasson Rump. He married Mildred "Ginger" Pearl on May 1, 1948 in Chicago. She passed away on October 23, 1998 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Surviving is his cherished longtime special companion, Diana Brodeur. Also surviving are three daughters, Debi (Chris) Frank of Peoria, Kathy (Lee) Goldstein of Peoria and Cyndi (Joe) Cox of St. Louis, MO; one son, Steven G. (Barb) Rump of Peoria; and one sister, Della Gavin of Peoria.

He attended Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, where he studied Civil Engineering. He graduated from Bradley University in 1949 with a B.S. Degree in Math and Science. He was a member of Sigma Phi Fraternity and Mt. Hawley Country Club. He was a former member of Bradley "B" Club, Knights of Columbus, Spalding Council #427 and Alhambra. He served on the Board of Directors of Peoria General Contractors Association. He was the third generation and former President of George H. Rump Construction Co, retiring in 1986. He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran. He earned his A/C Wings in 1943. He was a First Lieutenant and pilot flying B-24 and B-17 Bombers in Air Transport Command. He was a commercial pilot. He received his rating in single and multi engine planes.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
