Thomas married Mary Ellen Holt, December 26, 1878, in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah.

"Thomas Alston Sr. ~ Funeral services for Thomas Alston Sr., 83, of 2029 Lincoln Street, a former clerk and recorder for Salt Lake and Summit Counties and a prominent member of the Church, who died Monday Morning at his home, will be conducted Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. in the Lincoln Ward Chapel, 2005 So. Ninth East Street. Burial will be in the Salt Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call at 124 Fourth East Street today from 5 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m."
Cause of death was listed as Myocarditis. He was survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Holt, Alston.
