Capt Gus was part of the Virginia Militia that fought in the Revolutionary War. He used part of his land that he had purchased to train troups.

Gus and Rebecca had ten children. All are either listed here or linked.

Hamilton Elgin, born 2 Oct 1786, married Rebecca H. Thrift 26 Jan 1819 in Loudoun County, Virginia. They had at least seven children. Hamilton died before 1850 as he is not on that census.

Gustavus Elgin Jr, born 18 Oct 1790, married Elizabeth Cross 11 Nov 1830. He died 21 Jul 1860. Burial unknown. His wife Elizabeth is buried in Union Cemetery, Leesburg.

William Elgin, born 11 May 1794. William's whereabouts were unknown when his father wrote his will in 1826. No other information is known.

Gus died at Kingdom Farm. I have added his memorial here because he owned this land until his death.
