She m. Elias "Eli" Bodkin on Dec 5, 1886 in her father's home on Shaw's Ridge, Highland Co, VA with him present and consenting.
Ida was the only child of Silas Kyle & Virginia Frances (Malcolm) Sims to remain in Highland Co, VA when the rest of the family moved to Coles Co, IL in 1887. The 1911 publication, "History of Highland County, Virginia", by Oren F. Morton, classifed the Sims family as being "extinct" in Highland Co, meaning that he found no one of that name living there at that time.
Eli & Ida's home was on Co Hwy 21 just south of Sugar Grove, Pendleton Co, West Virginia and just a few miles north of her birth place on Shaw's Ridge in Highland Co, VA.
The Bodkin Cemetery where she is buried is locally known as the Harvey Bodkin Cemetery, and is located on Co Hwy 21 in Pendleton Co, WV, just north of the VA/WV county border. A subsequent owner of the property was Clemette Bodkin, and when I located the cemetery in June, 2000, Clemette's son, Wilmer, lived there.
The house is now occupied by Harlan Bodkin and his wife.
There are grave marker inscriptons with the name spelled "Bodkin" AND "Botkin" in this cemetery.
Ida and Eli were the parents of 9 children, which are listed below.
