Important artist of the Richmond Group. Known for his bold use of color in landscape paintings in oil, watercolor and pastels. Studied with John Elwood Bundy and at the Cincinnati Art Academy and was a visiting instructor at Miami University in 1925. His works are highly sought after and are found in numerous private and public collections including the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Richmond Art Museum, Earlham College, and Miami University where a large oil landscape of the Tallawanda Creek hangs over the living room fireplace at Lewis Place, the home of Miami presidents.
