Ruth Basting was born in Dry Grove Township, a daughter of Ferdinand and Mary Altes Basting. She was survived by two brothers, Ferdinand, Wauconda, and Wayne, R.R.4, and 3 sisters, Dorothy, Isabel and Helen, all of 101 Eastview Drive, Bloomington.
Miss Basting taught for 43 years before retiring in 1971. She taught at Oakdale School in Normal, IL, from its opening in 1954 until her retirement.
