John Graeve was my great grandfather, my mothers grandfather. He was born to Gerhard Graeve and Caterina [Hendiffer]Graeve. I did not know him as he died before I was born.He married Mary Jane Bradley on October 31,1882 in St Pauls Catholic Church in Philadelphia,Pa.They had eight children,Mary [my grandmother]Harry,Catherine,Frances,Peter,Edward,Anna and Ida.My greatgrandfather was in the Army during the Indian Wars in the Western United States. I was told that he was suppose to be with Custer on the day of Little Big Horn.He was getting ready to be discharged from the army and had taken his horse from him. After the fighting my greatgrandfather and a few others were sent out to bring Custers body back to the post.He said it was a horrible site.On the way back, the horse he was on fell into a gopher hole and broke my greatgrandfather leg.He was a strong man. My mother talked of him with pride. He passed at age 77.
I want to thank everyone who stops by and leaves a token on his site. God Bless.

I want to thank my cousin Colleen for the info on my great grandfather and Marian Mahon for the wonderful family tree that Colleen came across and for the information I never knew. Thank you and God Bless
