Lorraine E. Balis, 78, of Lifelong resident of Waldron, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001 in Hillsdale Community Health Center. She was born Nov. 20, 1922 in Branch County to Franklin and Eulalia (Keller) Bell. She married Paul Balis on March 26, 1944 in Waldron, He died on April 1, 1993. Lorraine retired form Waldron Area Schools. She was a graduate of Waldron High School and a member of Waldron Church of Christ. She is survived by a son, Garald (Pamela) Balis, of Waldron; granddaughters, Dawn (David) Hauter, of Swanton, Ohio, Deborah (John) Bryan of Florence, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Katarina Hauter, and Danielle Bryan, and a sister Betty (Ron) Ingersoll, of Williston, S.C. She also was preceded in death by her parents, and daughters Beverly Balis, who also died Sept. 27, 2001, and Nancy Balis in infancy. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Eagle Funeral Home in Waldron. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Waldron Church of Christ with the Rev. Russell Hodgman officiating. Interment will follow in Waldron Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Waldron Church of Christ or the Waldron Public Library.
