Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at St. Mary's Help Of Christian's Catholic Church in St. Augusta, MN, for Neil Fredrick Ackley, age 73, of 24683 County Road 7, St. Cloud, MN, who died at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN on Saturday, September 29, 2001. The Rev. Robert Rolfes will be the celebrant and Rev. John Miller will be the con-celebrant. Entombment will be at the St. Mary's Help of Christian's Mausoleum in St. Augusta, MN. Arrangements were with Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
Neil was born on July 7, 1928, on a farm in Clearwater Township, Wright County, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Clara (Wallace) Ackley. Neil was inducted into the United States Marine Corps in August of 1951 and served his country during the Korean Conflict stateside at Camp Pendelton in California until his honorable discharge in August of 1953. He was united in marriage to Beatrice H. Kunkel on September 30, 1953 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Luxemburg, MN. Five children were born to this union. Mr. Ackley worked as a salesman for Seven-Up Bottling Company for 20 years, and for Brown-Boveri Turbo Machinery for a couple years. He also managed Tom's Pet Factory for seven years and drove for Care Cab for eight years. In addition, Neil and Beatrice owned and operated 'Ackley's Tropical Fish'for 12 years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Help of Christian's Catholic Church and American Legion Post # 621, both of St. Augusta, MN.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice of St. Augusta, MN; his children, Richard and his wife Debra Ackley of St. Cloud, MN, Elaine and her husband Mark Prom of St. Cloud, MN, Patricia and her husband Matthew Schrom of Minnetonka, MN, Daniel and his wife Sue-z Ackley of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Thomas Ackley of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; and one brother Dale and his wife Althia Ackley of Meadowlands, MN. Neil was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are preferred to the St. Mary's Help of Christian's Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
