Mr. William Henry Bailey of Bagwell Drive, Scottsburg, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 61.
Mr. Bailey was born in Prince Edward County on March 12, 1948 to Mrs. Carrie Streat Bailey and the late Mr. Junious Bailey. He was married to Mrs. Bertha Stanley Bailey and was a member of Banister Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. William Henry Bailey is survived by his wife of the home; one daughter, Ms. Loraine Bailey of Danville; two sons, Mr. Floyd Bailey of Rustburg, Mr. Dennis Bailey of Lynchburg; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Carrie S. Bailey; five step-children, Mrs. Barbara Ferrell of Keeling, Mr. Charles Sydnor of Craigville, Mr. Ronald Sydnor of Kuwait, Mr. Vincent Stanley of Halifax, Ms. Victoria Stanley of Washington, DC; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Jefferson of Blackstone, Mrs. Carrie Booker of Richmond, Mrs. Velma Hines of Victoria; two brothers, Mr. Charles Bailey and Mr. Bruce Bailey of Meherrin; four sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. William Henry Bailey will be held on Monday, August 3, at 2 p.m. at Banister Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. William Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 1124 Bagwell Drive, Scottsburg.
Funeral arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home, North Main Street, South Boston.
