SPRINGFIELD, VA Loraine Olney McConnell, on September 3, beloved wife of Richard McConnell of Springfield, VA, loving mother of Janet Willard of Fredericksburg, VA, Richard A McConnell of Mullica Hill, NJ, David McConnell of Singapore, and Alan McConnell of Stockbridge, GA. Devoted sister of Dorothy Olney Davies of Vancouver, BC Canada, and David Olney of Mattapoisett, MA. Grandmother of nine. She is predeceased by her parents and brothers Charles Bud Olney and Robert Olney. She was born on June 20, 1928, in India and was the daughter of Charles Olney and Loraine Caul Olney of Waltham, MA. Lori was a graduate of Waltham High School in 1946 and received a B.A. from Denison University in 1950. Lori was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church serving as president of the Presbyterian Women (PW) and as a Circle leader for many years. She also served as a PW leader at the Synod level. She is an honorary life member of the PW and provided support as a Meals On Wheels driver for over 25 years. She was elected as an Elder several times and was later honored as an Elder Emeritus in the Presbyterian Church. Lori was also involved in her community assisting with the local civic association as well as an active PTA member, Scout leader, and volunteer. Her love, tenderness, and willingness to help will be warmly remembered by all who knew her. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 8, from 6 8:00 PM at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, September 9, at 7:00 PM at Grace Presbyterian Church in Springfield, VA.
