BANKS, Birdie Mae, 85, a former long-time Tullahoma resident, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at Terrace Boulevard in Murfreesboro. She was born July 17, 1921, in Logan County, Ky., the daughter of the late Talmadge Holder and Christina Smith Holder. She was a homemaker and assisted her late husband, Rob Roy Banks, in the ministry of Emmanuel Church of Christ where she was a member since 1932. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Weaver. Survivors include three children, Ronald (Sherry) Banks, Murfreesboro; Larry (Pat) Banks, Huntsville, Ala., and Marlane (Hollis) McClanahan, Lebanon; six grandchildren, Paige (Steve) Jones, Shannon (Eugene) Harwell, Chris (Larissa) Banks, Dana (Sean) Bohannon, Heather Banks and Dora McClanahan; eight great-grandchildren, and one on the way. Also surviving are two sisters, Geraldine McDaniel, Winchester Springs, and Jeanette Gunn, Tullahoma. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 3, at Tullahoma Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 4, with Elder Shirley Goins officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
