Ruth Agnes Gehrig, of Alma, Nebraska, passed away, September 24, 2009, in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born Jan. 3, 1923, northwest of Bloomington, Nebraska to George and Wilhemina (Dallman) Pohlenz. On Feb. 22, 1945, she married Johnnie "Bud" Gehrig in Alma, Nebraska.

She attended rural schools in Franklin and high school in Alma, where she graduated with the class of 1940. During World War II, she was employed at the rationing office in Alma.

She and her husband were married on Feb. 22, 1945, at First Christian Church in Alma, NE. They observed their 64th wedding anniversary in February.

After their wedding, they resided on the Gehrig family farm where Bud had been born and had lived his entire life. They resided on this farm 62 years before moving to Hillcrest Terrace in Alma in 2007.

She was baptized Nov. 20, 1935, at Pleasant View Christian Church south of Wilcox. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women at Long Island and the Lazy Susan's Extension Club.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of their home at Hillcrest Terrace in Alma, Nebraska; son, Roger Gehrig and his wife, Micki, of Alma, Nebraska; daughter, Mary Lou Boyll and her husband, William "Bill," of Holdrege, Nebraska; and a host of relatives and friends.
