Ellen Perryman was born about 1782, the daughter of William Perryman, Sr. and Nancy Ann Stokes Perryman. She married Frederick Grider, Jr., in 1803, in Burke County, North Carolina. They had one daughter:

1. Emily Jane Grider, born 1805. She married John Milton Wolford on May 15, 1823, in Adair County, Kentucky, and they had nine children.
