Alice Maxine Stegall, born in the Three Creeks community, Union County, Arkansas, was the daughter of Benson Garfield and Christine Adcock McGoogan. On December 23, 1966, she married Carroll Stegall. Carroll was the son of Wilson Irby Stegall and Lillian Owens. Maxine and Carroll had five children.
Maxine completed a 40-year career as a Registered Nurse. After nursing school in El Paso, Texas, she worked at various area nursing homes, at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, Louisiana, and Medical Center of South Arkansas. Maxine obtained her BSN from UA Monticello, and for several years taught nursing at South Arkansas University.
A member of Murmil Baptist Church; she enjoyed her flower garden and caring for her family, especially her five grandchildren.
