Son of Joseph Stayton and Betsey Sheckelsworth, who married Dec 30 1800, Washington Co KY. Other children included dau Anne, and perhaps a son named Joseph.

Middle name most often shown as Matthew/Matthews, there was an ancestor Anne Matthews. Has also been shown as Mathis, which a grandson was named.
