Mr. Tommy Raymond James, Sr., 75, died Thursday (March 9, 2017) at his residence following a long illness.

He was born in Manor, GA graduating from Manor High School and lived most of his life in Ware County.He served in the United States Air Force and was retired from CSX Railroad. He was a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church and the Faithful Service Sunday School Class. For 37 years, he pulled the chains for the Ware County Gators Football Team and was also former volunteer coach at Memorial Drive School.

Mr. James was a son of the late Troy Burton James and Rosa Estelle Steedley James. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Bonnie DeLettre James; two sisters, Mildred Gilliard (Lamar) and Louise Macik; four brothers, Troy James (Betty), W.D. James (Martha), Marion James, and Little Carey James; and a sister-in-law, Geraldine James.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Branson Jackson James of Waycross; ; a son, Ray James, Jr. (Rhonda) of Collins, GA; two daughters, Rhonda Mullis (Micky) of Waycross and Regina Morgan (Marvin Labis) of Savannah; a step-son, Rusty Jackson (Carmel) of Waycross; 10 grandchildren, Lauren Gamage, (Brandon), Rachel Strickland (Lance), Bradley Mullis (Sarah-Ashley Swanagin), Trey James (Elizabeth), Andrew Aycock (Amber Shaw), Ansley Jackson, Ian Jackson, Jami-Marie Storey, Gavin Jackson, and Millie Morgan; 5 great grandchildren, Brylee Gamage, Addison Aycock, Brayson Gamage, Sutton Strickland, and Sawyer Strickland; three sisters, Imogene Gilliard (James) of Jacksonville, FL, Lucille Hardeman of Conyers, and Joyce Saliba (Ray) of Valdosta; four brothers, Morris James (Esther Ruth) of Jacksonville, FL, Kenneth James (Joyce) of San Antonio, TX, Billy James of Manor, and Terry James (Carolyn) of Waycross; two brothers-in-law, Gerald DeLettre (Johnnie) of Alma and Nick Macik of Jacksonville, FL; one sister-in-law, Theta Ann James of Manor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (March 12, 2017) at Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening at Music Funeral Home from 6 until 8 o'clock.

The family requests former car department employees of CSX Railroad and past football coaches and players who participated with Mr. James at Memorial Drive School to meet at the church by 1:40 p.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his honor to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501 or to the Sweat Memorial Baptist Church Youth Mission Trip to Canada, 510 W. Blackshear Ave., Waycross, GA 31501.
