Ted Bartley was born to Barney Lloyd Bartley and Mittie Jane Wilson. His siblings were Lewie Sewell Bartley, Barney Conrad 'Connie' Bartley, and Phalen Hassen Bartley. He had three wives. He also had four children. One child, Donald Bartley has passed on. Ted was a supply pilot in World War II. He flew many missions over North Africa to deliver supplies to the soldiers on the ground. Before the WWII, Ted was a coal miner at home in Bell County, Kentucky. After the war Ted also lived in Indiana. He worked as a aircraft salesman at Weir Cook airport in Indianpolis while living in Mooresville and at Muncie, Indiana airport. Ted was also an inventor. In later years, Ted moved back to Middlesboro, Bell, Kentucky to retire.
