Pvt., Co. B, 1st Potomac Home Brigade (Cole's 1st Maryland Cavalry). Killed in action against Mosby's Rangers at Loudoun Heights, Va, January 10, 1864.

Listed as a farmer in the 1860 census for Clear Spring, Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of Abraham Sossey, II (1804-1864) and Eliza Chew Sosey (1807-1881).

Abraham L. Sosey also had a brother, John N., who served, initially in the same company of Cole’s Cavalry, but later in Co. F, 13th Maryland Infantry, USA.
