Lena was married to John B. Fahey in Louisville, KY on Feb. 5, 1883.
Their known children were Joseph Martin, John Henry, Mary Bridget, Mary Elina, Pearl Lena, Edmond Francis, Alphonse Sherdon, Leo Fabian and John Burtren. The only ones to survive to adulthood were, Joseph, Pearl, Edmond, Alphonse and Leo.
Mrs. John B. Fahey Dies at Bay St. Louis
Bay St. Louis, April 16 – Funeral rites for Mrs. Lena Dell Shannon Fahey, widow of John B. Fahey, were held Wednesday evening from the residence, Church of Our Lady of the Gulf and St. Mary’s cemetery. Solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated by Rev. Leo F. Fahey, a son of the deceased. Rev. Patrick Moran was deacon, Rev. Francis Deignan of Chatawa subdeacon and Rev. W. J. Leach of Pass Christian master of ceremonies. O. Gerow, assisted at the mass and gave the absolution and conducted the services at the cemetery. The sermon was by the Bishop, Rev. A. J. Gmelch, pastor, conducted the funeral service at the residence.
Mrs. Fahey was a native of Gallatin, Tenn., aged 73 years, a resident of Bay St. Louis since the early 80s. She was the mother of Joseph M., Edmund F., and the Rev. Leo F. Fahey; sister of Miss Agnes Shannon of Bay St. Louis, and grandmother of Edmund F., Jr., and Irmabelle Fahey.
The funeral was one of the largest ever noted, attended by prominent personages from many sections of Louisiana and Mississippi.
