Mr. Brunson was born on March 24, 1926 in Charleston, SC, the son of William A. Brunson, Sr. and Emma M. Ashworth Brunson. He was a member of Hibben United Methodist Church, Omar Shrine, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Royal Order of Jesters, Alhambra Chapter # 60, O. E. S., and VFW Post # 3142. He was a life member and Past Master of Etiwan Lodge # 95, A. F. M. and a charter member of the Low Country Past Masters Association. He served as Scout Master of Troop # 40 and as a Lieutenant with the Navy Sea Cadets. Mr. Brunson served in the U. S. Coast Guard in World War II and survived the sinking of the U. S. C. G. Cutter, Magnolia. He was a 50-year member of Local Union # 421 and a Mechanical Engineer Superintendent with Singleton and Sullivan Company several years supervising the layout work of buildings in Charleston including MUSC, VA, and SEARS buildings. He owned and operated several businesses including The Fisherman s Place, Low Country Well Drillers, and Stanley s Jewelers. His lifetime hobby of collecting old watches and clocks led him into the business from which he retired in 1989.
