The life story of Bugsy started when the young son of a family friend came to our house with a puppy he had gotten from neighbors in their trailer court that his parents wouldn`t let him keep. My Mom took the dog in so he wouldn`t have to take him back where he got him or to a shelter. Little did we know how important he would be in our lives. In earlier years we had cats that the dog seemed to get along with o.k. A few years later we moved and the dog would sometimes run back to the old house, which was less than a quarter mile away.
I went through grade, middle and high school and the dog was always there. I lost my father, started my first full time job and had five years there and we still had the same dog. Some neighbors who had moved away and came back to visit some of us years later were absolutely surprised to see we STILL had our dog. I was leaving for work one morning and I noticed the dog was not moving like he normally did. I let him outside as usual as he was very good about staying in the yard without a chain.
When I got home in the afternoon he wasn`t there. I looked around the neighborhood, searched nearby streets and residential areas. Later, I checked with the animal shelter. Ran ads in both our newspapers and offered a reward. Went over the same areas, a nearby woods and a since developed large acreage weedy area. We never found him. I couldn`t believe it. It took what seemed like forever to accept that he would never be back again. He was a great pet, friend and companion who will never be equaled.

♥ A sincere thank you to those who have stopped by to read about the first pet who was a major part in the lives of my family. ♥
