Here is our beautiful dog, Lady. After our dog Benji had died, we didn`t know how soon we would get another one. During Spring vacation of 1997, her picture was posted in the Bryan, Ohio Times as the Shelter Dog of the Week. She had evidently been picked up as a stray and no one came to claim her back. We went and got her and gave her a new home. Found out she had some medical problems, which she was promptly treated for.
She was one of the most friendly, faithful dogs I have ever seen. On determining her mix, it seemed like she was part cocker spaniel and part ? Made friends with people real easy and was never mean or aggressive. She required regular trips to the groomer, which she thoroughly enjoyed. In the fall of 1998, we adopted a kitten that was part of an abandoned litter. At first the two didn`t get along, but eventually they became great companions.
Early in 2002, she started losing her appetite and wouldn`t eat much. She looked like she was losing weight, but the scale said otherwise. Then the Vet checked further and found out water build up because of a heart problem. We spent a lot of time and money trying to save her but it finally was too much for her and she passed away on April 2, 2002. It was a devastating lost and extremely difficult to get over. We still have the cat to this day and she is a reminder of how special Lady was.
