Melba Parker Bastian, 94, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2009.

Melba was born in Spokane, Washington on July 20, 1915, the daughter of Josephine Lindner and George Grundy Parker.

She married Weldon W. Bastian on November 15, 1935 in Spokane and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 22, 1939. Melba was a wonderful wife and mother.

She was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions including Relief Society president, chorister and secretary. She loved music and was very accomplished on the Hawaiian guitar. She loved her family, her flowers and working in her garden. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon, her parents, her two brothers, Guy and Wayne Parker, and her great-grandson Jonah Kai Bastian. She was survived by her seven children, Larry (Diane) Bastian, Bountiful, UT; Marlene (Curtis) Safsten, Springville, UT; Bonnie Williams, Parker, CO; David (Marilyn) Bastian, Coulee Dam, WA; Steven (Debra) Bastian, Southlake, TX; Penny (Chapman) Lindsay, Fremont, CA; and Daniel (April) Bastian, Vernal, UT. Also survived by her 43 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the LDS Chapel, 1785 East 400 South, Springville, Utah. Viewing at 11.00 a.m. and Funeral Services will be at 12:00 noon.
Interment and a short graveside service will be held in the Vernal City Memorial Park Cemetery, Vernal, Utah, on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 12:00 Noon.
