James Byron Van Deventer, 88, a retired technician for the FAA, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at a Bedford hospital.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday, Founders Chapel, First United Methodist Church, Grapevine. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
J. B. was a member of the Second Advent Christian Church of Grapevine. He was a long-time member of the IOOF #402, Grapevine and the past master of Masonic Lodge 288, Grapevine. He was preceded in death by his son, James Clinton Van Deventer.
Survivors: Wife of 66 years, Marion Van Deventer, Colleyville; grandchildren, Shelly Guerrero and husband, Tav, Bedford, Clint Van Deventer, Arlington; daughter-in-law, Mattie Lou Allen and husband, Stan, Euless; great-grandchildren, Sean and Lauren Guerrero, Bedford; brother, Bill Van Deventer, Grapevine; sister, Inez Morrison, Bedford; and numerous extended family.
