Marlow: Ima Irene Burris, 98, Marlow, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in Marlow.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Church of Christ, with Josh Howe officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Ima was born Sunday, September 25, 1910 in Diama, Oklahoma, to Travis Calvin Johnson and Cora D. (Thompson) Johnson. Ima was a life long resident of the Bray and Marlow area. She attended Bray Schools. Ima married Thomas (Tom) Jefferson Burris on November 16, 1929 in Chickasha. He preceded her in death in 1991. She worked as a practical nurse at the Talley-Walker Hospital for 22 years. While working at the hospital, Ima organized annual Halloween parties for staff, family and friends. Ima enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and going to bluegrass music festivals. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. Her most recent project, at age 97, was making over 90 "love" pilows. Ima loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Marlow Church of Christ.
Survivors include, Son, Tommy Burris of Marlow, 2 Daughters, Evelyn Brantley and husband Don of Sterling, Patsy Hector of Marlow, 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 22 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, four brothers, Rhoual, Carl, Wren, T.C., three sisters, Ethyl, Gladys, Ressie.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
