Viola Ruth Smelser was born in Topeka, KS and her Dad was a carpenter. She was my grandma and my name is Catherine Ruth, Catherine from my paternal grandma, and Ruth after Viola Ruth. She met Alvin Charles Stone when he moved to Topeka, for his tinsmith training, and they married on June 22, 1910.
