Amber M. Utter-Manley, 16, Beatrice, died Saturday evening, Aug. 17, 2002, from injuries sustained in a car accident. She was born July 11, 1986, in Beatrice and attended Cedar Elementary School, Beatrice Middle School, and was about to enter the 11th grade at Beatrice High School. She had been active in volleyball, band and choir, was a member of The Salvation Army Church and also attended St. John Lutheran Church, both in Beatrice. She served as a volunteer at The Salvation Army Church and delivered Thanksgiving Dinners, and also did volunteer work at Parkview Care Center and Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice and Wymore. She enjoyed car racing, was a Dale Earnhardt fan, and also enjoyed target shooting, fishing and camping, and animals, especially dolphins and dogs.

Survivors: father, Rodney Manley and wife Brenda of Beatrice; mother, Gina Simmons of Beatrice; sister, Jennifer Lucas and husband Ed of Beatrice; grandparents, Connie Simmons of Red Cloud, Billy Simmons of Phoenix, Ariz., Harlan and Carol Saathoff of Beatrice; niece, Callie Lucas of Beatrice; aunt, Jessie Simmons of Omaha; uncles, Gary Saathoff of Ellis and Michael Simmons of Hastings; cousins.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 21, St. John Lutheran Church, Sixth and Washington streets, Beatrice, the Rev. Doug Gunkelman officiating. Family prayer service: 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, chapel of the church. Burial: Diller Cemetery, Diller, Neb. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Fox Funeral Home, Beatrice, in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from noon Tuesday until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and then at the church one hour preceding the services. Fox Funeral Home, Beatrice.
