Virginia ~ The Bride on her Wedding Day, Saturday, 21 Oct 1939 at The Protestant Episcopal Church of The Redeemer, in Springfield, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. This location was George's hometown; his Mother, Lillian Dell Parker {Adoptive Name: Tompkins; First Marriage to John Kendig Handwork, by whom she was Widowed in 1921} LeBaron and Step-Father, Lynn Henry "Hank" LeBaron, could not travel to Long Island, New York, where all of Ginny's family lived, and where she was reared. Her Parents, Charles LeRoy and Cassandra William (nee Taylor) Mellen, and her dear friend and Bridesmaid, Dorothy Kultzow, and George's friend and Usher, Paul Osmon, did travel to Pennsylvania. (Paul introduced George and Ginny on Long Island, when they both worked at Roosevelt Flying Field in Mineola. Paul was boarding at Ginny's Parents' home and had invited George to room there, also.) George's only sibling, his Brother, Philip DeHaven Handwork II, was his Best Man. Ginny's youngest daughter, Janet has this dress, headpiece, pearls, shoes and Diamond Wedding Ring set, (which Ginny never took off to clean, unless her husband, George was home to place them back on her finger and seal it with a kiss!) Ginny's eldest daughter, Judy wore this lovely dress for her Wedding Day 21 Oct 1961. Ginny's headpiece, attached to the scalloped, fine tulle veil, had lovely wax Orange Blossoms. The flowers attached to the narrow, satin ribbons flowing from her white, Protestant Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, were fresh Lily of the Valley. One of the songs sung at the Wedding Ceremony was "Oh, Promise Me". It was also sung at the repeating of their vows at their 50th Wedding Anniversary ceremony at Saint John's Protestant Episcopal Church, by The Reverend Robert J. Maceo, in Dallas, Texas in 1989. In 1964, George and Virginia had repeated their Vows for their 25th Wedding Anniversary as well. This ceremony was also conducted by the Reverend Maceo, at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Dallas, Texas.

Ginny in the driveway of hers and George's first home in Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas in 1941. George was sent there in December of 1939 by William P. "Bill" LEAR founder of LEAR AVIA, (and the future LEAR Jet) to be his liaison to BEECH and CESSNA aircraft companies in their Avionics departments. They had married 21 Oct 1939. Ginny followed George to Kansas in time for their first married Christmas of 1939.
