OLEN DARIS WILSON

Olen Daris Wilson was born in Shelby County, Texas to James Taylor Wilson, Sr. and Ida Cornelia O'Banion, April 16, 1906 and passed away after a long illness.

When he was nine years old his mother died from Typhoid Fever, leaving behind five children under the age of nine.
They are as follows: Daris, Vonnie Lee, Margaret, James Taylor, Jr. and Benton Dugan Wilson.

His father married Edna Hughes Stack December 1915, she brought into this marriage two children, Maurice and Wayne Stack. As time passed James and Edna had eight more children, Ara, who had a twin brother that died at birth, Fred, Pirl, Perry, Rena, Tempie Ann and Victor Bill Wilson.
There was a total of fifteen children, of which Daris was the oldest.

Daris married Norma Lee Pate September 7, 1925 in Shelby County, Texas. Daris was always in love with Norma and treated her with great respect. He was a great father to his five daughters.

Daris was a faithful member of Bistineau Baptist Church, Heflin, Louisiana, church treasurer for over seventeen years and a deacon.

Daris had several jobs during his lifetime, but his main jobs were farming and working in Heflin, Louisiana for Woodard & Walker Sawmill. As his health declined he retired from the sawmill.

Funeral services for Mr. Olen Daries Wilson, 85. of Heflin, La., were held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 1992 at Bistineau Baptist Church, Heflin, La. Rev. Wayne Reeves & Rev. Bob Jamison officiated. Burial was held at Bistineau Cemetery under the direction of Rockett Funeral Home, Ringgold, La.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Dean Chandler.

Survivors include his wife,, Norma Pate Wilson of Heflin, La.; four daughters & sons-in-law, Doris & Charles Logan, Patsy & Earl Paul, Virginia & David Bailey and Lynda & Bobby Hulion, all of Heflin, La.; seven brothers, J.T. "Jake" Wilson of Ringgold, La., Fred & Pete Wilson both of Shreveport, La.,Perry Wilson of Corpus Christi, Tx. and Bill Wilson of Eagle Lake, Tx., Maurice Stack of Center, Tx. and Wayne Stack of Houston, Tx.; four sisters, Vonnie Lee Peace of Carthage, Tx., Ara Douglas of Stuttgard, Germany, Rena Withers of Fredericksburg, Va. and Ann Calhoun of Heflin, La.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
