Deceased Name: BARBARA BOHLKEN ACKERMAN
Barbara Bohlken Ackerman died Oct. 23. She was born July 29, 1917, in Alhambra, Calif., and graduated from UCLA with a degree in history. She was accomplished at needlework and gardening and collected dolls, but reserved her greatest passion for her family. She is survived by her husband, Bud (L.C.) Ackerman; daughters, Nancy Burnaugh of Marietta, Ga., Janet Lesser of Fremont, N.C., and Barbara Arnold of Bowling Green, Ohio; sons, John Ackerman of Novelty, Ohio, and George Ackerman of Newport News; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Mrs. Ackerman was a member of Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg and served the communities she called home by delivering Meals on Wheels, improving public libraries, and leaving each place more beautiful than she found it. She witnessed a great deal of history during her life and travels and was generous with her reminiscences. She loved to celebrate special occasions and accomplishments both large and small with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions to Williamsburg Community Hospital, intensive care unit.
