Robert (Bob) L. Helgestad passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at his home in the care of his loving wife. A tough, quiet and determined man, Bob met many people in his 91 years.
Bob was born on March 31, 1925 in Albion, Wis. to Peter and Bergliot (Stalsberg) Helgestad and lived on various farms in the Edgerton area. From 1945 to 1946, Bob served in the army and was stationed in Arlington, Va. He farmed with his family until he was married on May 14, 1960. He then worked at Highway Trailer in Edgerton and Ohmeda, before retiring in 1990.
As a young man, Bob enjoyed roller skating and was a good dancer. He cherished his boat and days spent fishing. As any Norwegian, he enjoyed lutefisk dinners and windshield farming drives. He was a proud lifetime member of the Sons of Norway.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine Helgestad (Koltes); daughter, Christy (Todd) Tupper; granddaughters, Rachel and Sara Tupper; and two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth Helgestad and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Perry; sister, Adeline; and son, Roger Helgestad.
A private burial gathering was held, per his request. As Bob always said, “Time Marches On,” but you will be in our thoughts always, Grampa and Dad.
