Juanita C. Ackermann, a longtime resident of Pearl River, NY, died December 2, 2006 at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, NY. She was 92. Mrs. Ackermann worked as a registered nurse for Rockland Psychiatric Hospital in Orangeburg, NY. She was with the hospital for 22 years before retiring in 1980. Mrs. Ackermann was born January 3, 1914 in Fort Wayne, IN to Horacio Webster and Henrette Ward-Churchill. She earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY in 1969 and worked towards a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Dominican College. Mrs. Ackermann lived in Pearl River for the past 52 years. Before that she lived in Harding Park, Bronx, NY from 1920 to 1954. Locally she was a member of the Gloria Chapter Eastern Star and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Mrs. Ackermann will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to family and her charitable heart. She is survived by her son Roger (Chris) Ackermann of Pearl River, NY; daughter Ann Marie (Wayne) Brown of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren William (Eileen) Ackermann of Pearl River; Karl Ackermann of Pearl River; Spencer Brown of Boulder, CO; Stewart Brown of Glen Arlen, VA; great-grandchildren Scott, Brittany and Matthew Ackermann of Pearl River; foster children Dwight Thessen and Alex Thessen. She is predeceased by her husband Francis Ackermann (1960). Visiting will be Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. The Funeral Service will be held 10:30 am, Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Pearl River, NY. Burial will follow at Germonds Cemetery, New City, NY.
