Services for Charles A. Stanley, 67, Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Avon area were Monday, June 10 in St. Malachy Catholic Church, Brownsburg, [Indiana] of which he was a member. Father Elmer Burwinkel officiated with burial in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson. Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, was in charge of arrangements and calling. A native of Anderson, he was born October 2, 1917 to William and Virtue (Welch) Stanley. He resided in Florida the past three years moving from the Avon area. Mr. Stanley, who died Thursday June 6 in St. John's Hospital, Anderson, was a graduate of Anderson High School in 1935 and Ball State University in 1946. He retired in 1981 as head of the research and development department of Eli Lilly & Company, Indianapolis, where he was employed for 27 years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Hendricks County Art League, and Civil War Round Table, Indianapolis. He was also a former member and president of the Avon Community School Corporation from 1963 to 1970. Surviving are wife, Georgia; three daughters, Linda Kopcha, Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania, Martha Mongell, Brownsburg, and Mary Elizabeth Finnerty, Middletown; and three grandchildren.
