Joann was born in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Robert C. and Luna Pearl Smith Beattie. Joann was a homemaker, who enjoyed crocheting, and doing crafts. But most of all spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of Royster Avenue Church of God, former Sunday school teacher and member of the church choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Billy, Wilburn, Belvin and David Beattie; and sister, Verta Lee Beattie
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Bobby Farrell Parker of the home; sons, Farrell R. Parker and Kim Glover and Bobby G. Parker and wife, Janice, all of Shelby; daughter, Cheryl P. Parker and husband, Earl Parker II of Shelby; sisters, Onzie Hensley of Shelby, Marion Fimble of Victoria, Texas and Nadine Lovelace of Smyrna, Ga.; brother, Hubert Beattie of Tennessee; and grandchildren, Ryan Matthew Parker and wife Jenny of Charlotte.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Cheryl and Earl Parker, 1213 Starlight Drive, Shelby.
