She was born on January 24, 1920 in Princeville, IL, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Colgan Purcell. She married Joseph M. Boylan on May 4, 1946 in Princeville. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas (Jan) Boylan of Mapleton, IL and James (Charlotte) Boylan of Dunlap; grandsons, Gregory Boylan of Passau, Germany and Jeffrey Boylan of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; step-grandson, Todd (Julie) Brooks of Peoria; step-great granddaughter, Madison Brooks of Peoria; two brothers, Father Edward Purcell and Joseph Purcell both of Chillicothe; two sisters, Betty Murphy of Wyoming and JoAnne Ringness Shekleton of Peoria; and four nephews and five nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Janice.
Mary was employed by Pabst Brewing Company from 1968-1978 in the accounting department.
She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Spalding Council, the Holy Family Altar and Rosary Society and sang with her church choir.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Peoria, where a Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the mass at the church. Wright & Salmon Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Peoria or to the Holy Family Church music ministry.
