Ercel was the 24 year old son of Charles D. Brooks (Texas) and Rose Brown (Arkansas) of El Paso, El Paso Co., Texas. He was married to Katherine Flemming and had a daughter name, Rosetta Ann. The family lived in El Paso, El Paso Co., Texas, when He was killed in Italy during World War II.

PEPPERELL MAN KILLED IN ACTION
CORP. ERCEL BROOKS MET DEATH IN ITALIAN CAMPAIGN
PEPPERELL- Corp. Ercel Brooks, husband of Mrs. Katherine Flemming Brooks, Foster Street, has been killed in action, according to a War Department notice received by Mrs. Brooks, yesterday.
Corp. Brooks previously had been reported as missing. He was a member of the Fifth Army in Italy and had taken part in the North African campaign and the invasion of Sicily.

RITES ARRANGED FOR CPL. ERCEL G. BROOKS
Funeral services for Cpl. Ercel G. Brooks, who died in service in World War II, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Kaster and Maxon Chapel, Chaplain Troy B. Yopp, officiating.
He was killed in Europe, Dec. 9, 1943. Prior to entrance into the Army, he was employed by the Bauman Electric Co. He is survived by His mother, Mrs. Rose Brooks and a brother, Ennis of El Paso; and a daughter, Rosetta Ann of Ayer, Mass. Honorary pallbearers will be George D. Houser, Calvin H. Stringer, Carl L. Stringer, Martin Bauman, Robert Hadlock, Carl Houser, Ernest Merrill and James P. Dickens.
Burial will be with military honors in National Cemetery, Fort Bliss.
