He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 which took him to Europe where he met his wife Lillian Margareta Norqvist, on a ferry between Denmark and Germany, where he served his term. They were married November 22, 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin Kansas.
He fathered three children: Christina Marie, Lillian Marlene, and Dale Christopher.
He enjoyed travelling, golf, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Elizabeth, and father George L, his brother Lawrence, and sister Wynemah.
He is survived by his wife Lillian, brother George and his wife Ronda, sister Rosa Boehm and her husband Scott, and sister Susan McKaine and husband Luke; his daughters Lynn Goodhue and family, and Christina; his son Dale and his family.
He is survived by seven grandchildren.
