Maria CONLON immigrated from Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, with her mother (Mary SMITH Conlon) and at least seven of her brothers and sisters. Her father, Roger Conlon had died in Ireland in 1845 and her mother died on board the ship and was buried at sea.
After arriving in New York, the family made their way to Auburn, Cayuga Co, NY, where there was a large Irish community.
Maria was married there to Moris Murphy on Aug 15, 1855. He was also from Ireland and had come to America at the age of 13 years. Born in Levitstown, Co Kildare, in 1833, he died at a young age on Apr 24 1861.

Charles Conlon is also buried in the McCartin plot, he was born in 1833 and died on Jan 4, 1886 in Auburn.
After Moris's death, Maria left New York and came to Missouri, living in Springfield, and bringing her three children with her.

They had seven children, three of them died young. Maurice, b. Aug 6 1880, Danny, b. Feb 1 1883, and Louisa, birth unknown. They are buried in the Conlon-Birney-Murphy plot.
Other children of Sarah and Patrick Gillespie were: Charles Edward Gillespie, Francis R. Gillespie, Mary Genevieve GILLESPIE Tinkler, and Alwin James Gillespie.
