Jedediah Ayers was one of eight sons born to Moses & Abigail Payne Ayers; the others were David, Nathaniel, Jeremiah, William, Daniel, James M & Jesse.

Jedediah's descendants have become members of the DAR. Information available upon request.

Jedediah and son Cuthbert were witnesses to Will of Peter FLEMING. Both also mentioned in the Will of Archibald BOWMAN. Being of advanced age. Mentions village of Andersonville in Anderson Dist. SC in which William BOWMAN now lives. Children: daughter Nancy McPHERSON, wife of Elisha McPherson, William Bowman and the children of my daughter, Sarah Ann HILL.

The Franklin Co., GA court ordered Jedediah AYERS be appointed guardian of his own children: Cuthbert D, Alfred and Harriett E. AYERS Sep. 2, 1844 His wife Rhoda is thought to have died at the birth of son John W. Ayers. Jedediah did not marry again but had a common law wife Mary Guest. Her father sued Jedediah September, 1852 in Franklin County for damages of $3,000.00 for, among other things, stealing his 18 year old daughter Mary away from the family.

Hartwell, June 21 - Two of the oldest as well as the most prominent citizens of this county departed this life during the past week. Mr. Jedediah Ayers of Reed Creek district, died last Sunday. He had been in feeble health for some time, and his death was not unexpected. He was well known over the county, having been a justice of the peace for many years, and was respected by all who knew him.
