Joe B. Akins

Joe B. Akins, 76, died Saturday morning in the Candler General Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness.

The Bulloch County native had lived in the Akinsville community all of his life. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jewel S. Akins, Brooklet; four daughters, Wanda Waters, Kathy Jones, and Missy Polland, all of Brooklet; and Dianne Hendrix, Nevils; one son, Kenny Waters, Douglas; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lou Lee, Brooklet, Mrs. Fannie Hayes, Stilson, and Mrs. Dereta McElveen, Hubert; six grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mr. Akins will be held today at 3 p.m. in the Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Woodrow Beasley and Elder Howard Cox officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Nephews will serve as active apllbearers.

The body will remain in the Smith-Tillman Mortuary until 2 p.m. when it will be taken to the church.
