Reinhard J. Albert, 82, Yates Center, Kansas, died Thursday, August 27, 2009, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Kansas.

He was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Maize, Kansas. He attended St. Marks Catholic School in St. Marks.

On Dec. 10, 1954, he married Dolores M. Heimerman at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. She survives.

They shared more than 54 years of marriage.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. He also received a Drivers Badge, Marksman Badge, and Sharpshooter Badge all while serving with the 17th Armored Engineers Battalion.

He was a lifelong farmer.

He was a member of the St. Martins Catholic Church, and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post #13 in Yates Center, KS.

Other survivors include a son, Dwayne Albert, Yates Center, KS; four daughters and sons-in-law, Audine and Dennis Stuhlsatz, Wichita, KS, Beverly and Bill Dillon, Independence, KS, Diana and Dick Jones, Yates Center, KS, and Carolyn and Jerry Steinforth, Yates Center, KS; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edmond Albert, Andale, KS, and Clemence Albert, Wichita, KS.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen and Kathlene Albert; and three brothers, Bernard, Lawrence, and Clarence Albert; and two sisters, Margaret and Sabina Martin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Martins Catholic Church in Piqua, Kansas, with interment to follow in St. Martins Catholic Cemetery.
