Mr. Burns was born July 3, 1881, at Pinckneyville, Ill., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Burns, who also at one time lived in Caruthersville later going to St. Louis to make their home. For a time he was associated with his father in the operation of the city water plant here, and for many years was in electrical business.
He is survived by his son, Robert of California, a sister, Mrs. Bertha Smith and a brother, Charles Burns, also his former wife, Mrs. Mary Gillette Burns, of this city. A daughter, Ruth Burns, passed away several years ago.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete as this paper went to press, but the body was expected to arrive here, possibly today, for burial. Robert Burns was expected to arrive earlier in the week by plane.

Funeral services were held at the H.S. Smith chapel Sunday afternoon for Henry Lester Burns, 72, who died in a sanitarium at Mallbrae, Calif. on April 26. The Rev. Floyd V. Brower conducted the service and burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
A former resident of this city, Mr. Burns had lived in California with his son, Robert Burns, for the past twelve years.
Attending the funeral were the son, Robert, a sister of the deceased, Mrs. Bertha Schmidt of St. Louis; also Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cook and Mrs. Bethel Fial, all of St. Louis, more distant relatives. A brother, Chas. Burns, was unable to be present because of illness.
