In 1880, Sarah was one year old and living with the David K. Miller family in Kosciusko county, but she is not listed as his daughter; her relationship is "other."

Sarah Miller married Wilton Vivian Penland on March 25th, 1897. On the 1900 census, Wilton & Sarah had one son listed, Everett M., 2 years old. She had two other babies, but both of them died before her death.

Three babies are listed for W.V. & Sarah Penland on the Kosciusko county birth records: son, born on February 16, 1898; daughter, born May 10, 1899; son, born May 24, 1902.

Died.
Mrs. Wilton Penland died at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.K. Miller, northwest of town on Monday of last week, at the age of twenty-five years. Funeral services in this city on Thursday last, after which the remains were lain to rest in Lawndale cemetery. She was a former resident of Milford and a is survived by a husband and one child, her parents, and many other relatives.
