Richard D. "Rick" Hammond, 46, went to be with the Lord at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004 at his residence. He was the husband of Christine E. (Witmer) Hammond, whom he married on June 30, 1990.

Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at J. J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc., 24 Second Street., New Freedom. Service is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, New Freedom.

Mr. Hammond was born June 5, 1958 in York, the son of Betty M. (Cummings) Hammond Hackler of New Freedom and William C. Hammond of White hall, Md. He was the stepson of Rosemary Hammond of White hall andthe late Marvin Hacklr.

He was employed as a field center assistant with Becton-Dickson in Pylesville, Md. for 26 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Dallastown and the National Rifle Assoc.

He enjoyed driving his 1953 For pick-up truck, which he restored; and he also enoyed hunting and auto sports.

He also leaves two sons, Corey J. Houck and his companion, Tammi Juris of Hellam, and John William Hammond of Felton; a daughter, Jennifer L. Houck of Dallastown; five grandchildren, Alexis, Justy, Samantha, Austin and Annalese; maternal grandparents, Wilmer and Margaret Cummings of New Freedon; a sister, Judy Garret and her husband, Ben of White Hall; two brothers, Bill Hammond and his wife, Lisa of Dallastown, and Randy Hammond and his wife,, Patty of Parkton, Md.; six nieces and nephews, Heather, Todd, Stephanie, Randall, Tori and Wyatt; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
