She was born December 17, 1945 to Hubert and Annie Mae (Lyles) McCoy in Mississippi.
She earned an associates degree in social work from Kellogg Community College and later became a registered nurse working in private residences in Battle Creek.
She enjoyed going to the Senior Center in Detroit, shopping, going out to dinner and being with her family.
Surviving are sons James Rimpson of Battle Creek and Charles Rimpson of Wyoming; daughter, Yvonne McCoy of Southfield and a grandson, Deon Nivens of Cloverdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Herman Adams; sister, Barbara Jean McCoy and a son, Deon Benton.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel where services and burial will follow at 11:00 with Minister Andre Harrell of Greater Grace Temple Apostolic Church, Detroit officiating. Memorial may be made to the charity of one's choice.
