MAX MEADOWS - George Aker Collins, age 92, of Rt. 3, Max Meadows, died Sunday in the Birdmont Health Care Center in Wytheville. He was born in Wythe Co., the son of the late Walter S. and Sarah Jones Collins. He was a member of the Gunton Park Church of God Prophecy and was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Florence Dean Collins and a son, Scott Collins. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Lillian Rachel and Robert Davis, Max Meadows; one daughter-in-law, Grace Collins, Norfolk; six sons and daughters-in-law, Walter F. and Lorraine Collins, Norfolk; William H. and Edna Collins, Radford; Marion Brady and June Collins, Radford; Sherman A. and Dawn Collins, Draper; Albert Franklin and Edna "Bobbie" Collins, Jacksonville, FL; David M. and Doris Collins, Max Meadows; one sister, Margaret Dean, Max Meadows; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday from the Barnett Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Jones Cemetery in Gunton Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Barnett Funeral Home. The family sincerely requests that memorials be made to the Wythe County Rescue Squad. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of arrangements.
