Mother Mello Powell Smith Kelly, ""Sweet", a native of Greenville, AL and resident of Kushla, AL, born August 15, 1909, departed this life, August 17, 2009 at a local nursing facility. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church-Mauvilla where she served as a Deaconess, Usher, on the Mother's Board, and a member of the Missionary Society. She leaves to cherish her memory five sons, Roy J. Smith, Chicago, IL, Raymond (Christine), Joseph (Sarah) and Nathaniel (Earnestine) Kelly all of Kushla, AL, Phillip (Joyce) Kelly, Mobile, AL, and one daughter, Inella Smith Campbell, Montgomery, AL; other children by marriage include, Sarah M. Williams, Elijah and James Kelly all of Kushla, AL; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, very devoted cousin whom she considered a sister, Annie E. Powell, and friends. Her remains can be viewed at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home Friday, August 21, 2009 from 12-5pm. A second viewing will continue Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church- Mauvilla after 9am. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11am at which time the Pastor, Rev. Alphonso Brady, will conduct the funeral service. Interment will follow in Mauvilla Cemetery. Special thanks to the Eight Mile Nursing Home Staff, Dr. G. Sutton and Odyssey Hospice. May God continue to bless you.
