Mrs. Emma G. Gast Dies At Celina, O.

Mrs. Emma Gillig Gast, 80, former resident of Decatur, who had lived in Celina, O., for the last 30 years, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Gibbons hospital in Celina. She had been seriously ill the past 10 days with complications and a heart ailment.

She was born in New Riegel, O., Sept. 24, 1881, a daughter of Conrad and Mary Appelman-Gillig, and lived in Decatur for a number of years. She was employed at the Old Adams County Bank while a resident of this city. She was married June 30, 1915, to Andrew Gast, who preceded her in death in 1943.

Mrs. Gast was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic church at Celina, the altar Rosary society, the Poor Souls society, Third Order of St. Francis and Legion of Mary.

Surviving are one daughter, Sr. Mary Cordelia of the Precious Blood order of Dayton O., two sisters, Mrs. Clay (Agnes) Klosterman of Celina, and Mrs. Larry (Cecelia) Sheeter of Bascom, O.; four brothers, Robert Gillig of Fostoria, O., and William, Leo and Harmon Gillig, all of Decatur, and four grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Edward (Gertrude) Kriegel, died May 25, 1961.

The body was brought to the Gillig & Doan funeral home in this city, where friends may call this afternoon and tonight, with the rosary to be recited at 8 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the residence, 125 East Anthony street, Celina, Friday morning, and may be viewed until time of the services.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the immaculate Conception church at Celina, the Rev. Marcellus Fortman officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery at Celina.
